080808 - a great spectacular event from Beijing.
I just wanna say this when I was watching the opening ceremony of the Beijing Olympics: WOAH. It was really amazing. The astounding number of performers just really proved 2 things: 1) the organisers can really get thousands of performers to dance together at the same tempo, 2) the Bird Nest standium, not only has a big seating capacity, has a field big enough for thousands. Really, well done Beijing! Especially the final part of the torch relay. A gigantic torch that finally lit up. I wonder how much fuel/electricity they would need to keep the Olympic flame burning… And Team Singapore appeared like super late. At around the last 20 teams or so… but it is cool, since a lot of us got to know some nations, who are participating in the Olympics for the very first time. And honestly, I quite like the ethnic costumes of some of the African nations. They are so tribal, with lovely patterns. Anyways, last night’s ceremony was a great start for Beijing. So can it keep up the good work for the next 16 days? Especially with the smog…. Finally, let’s hope no one would be silly enough to be involved in any doping cases =)
