Facebook is dangerous?
BBC on Facebook’s security flaw Actually this thing has been bugging me for a long time now. I often think “wtf” when I see my friends posting up all their addresses and telephone numbers online but since it’s none of my business I decided to keep quiet about it. I am just disturbed by the fact that so many people think that their information is safe as long as they restrict their profiles to “friends only” or “only xxxx network”. I don’t know..the way I look at it..the solution is simply don’t put information like addresses and telephone numbers on your Facebook account! I don’t see the point in putting them anyway..it’s totally redundant. If your friends know you they will have access to those information already. I definitely don’t want some weird person whom I just know to get access to my address. It’s really up to the user himself to protect his own privacy and the responsibility definitely should not fall on Facebook. I think net users are just too naive nowadays. It’s a free service that we are choosing to use…don’t expect much on the security side since the users are choosing to expose themselves voluntarily. *shrugs* At the risk of sounding rude..I think people who put up personal information and get into trouble are asking for it.
