Hihi USA (1)

First of all, I want to say that I’m very upset that my flight was on the 11th May - making me miss ALL the final matches of the BPL. Gah. On the plane to Los Angeles via Taipei. Still feeling quite okay despite only sleeping 3 hours before the flight. Hello Taipei! After transiting at Taipei, I endured a gruesome 10-hour ride to Los Angeles sitting between a kind Taiwanese lady who can’t stop talking and a Hispanic guy who was being overly friendly. He was also so big that my seat was reduced to 3/4 of its original size. I got so frustrated that I couldn’t go to the washroom as I liked or get water (because that leads to the washroom) that I didn’t manage to sleep at ALL. I watched 4 movies and got pretty dehydrated. My skin started cracking and my contacts were drying up. Possibly the worst plane ride of my entire life - the longest one at that too. LA! Very cold and windy and dry. All of us were rushing up to take a photo of him. The very nice, helpful, and gentlemanly guys (4~5 of them + a really nice girl) from NTU that I met. They are veryyyy nice, very pro-active, and very initiated. I must really count my lucky stars that I met them. I don’t see a lot of these kind of guys around. At Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport. Had to stay in the Greyhound bus terminal for a freaking 10 hours (from 11pm to 9am) because there weren’t enough seats that night bound for Flagstaff. Wow I was near death. That makes about 4 hours of sleep for 3 days. My friends trying to sleep. This position doesn’t work. I woke up briefly after and to my dismay, found out I only slept 15 minutes in that position. 5.30am in Phoenix. The sky here lights up really fast. A lot of cowboys around. Finally on board the bus to Flagstaff! I wish NUS would offer Spanish instead of bah, Korean. Apparently I’m not the only one who thinks that Spanish is 1000000000000000000 times more useful, practical, and value-add than Korean. Larger-than-humans cactuses. Flagstaff, Arizona, USA! One more destionation to go though - Grand Canyon. The place I’m staying at for a night after applying for my social security number. The day’s trips to Grand Canyon were all booked up so I had to waste yet another day. How inaccessible is Grand Canyon. Supremely tired, very ticked off (by a variety of things) and no longer bothered with looks. Town area of Flagstaff. Train station behind me. I actually saw it going past me. Super cool and noisy. ROUTE 66! Train station. Broken glasses all over the floor. It was actually quite scary walking around near 7pm (dark skies) as most of the shops were closed. The streets looked like something right out of a Hollywood movie…with white, skinny teenagers and their excessively large hoodies. I might finally be able to sleep at least 6 hours today! I could have slept way earlier but being able to use the net after 3 days > sleep. I can’t seem to get onto Macy’s (probably the departmental store) wireless network now and it’s driving me nuts. It worked well before I went out for a walk. Or maybe they decided to ban me after I downloaded huge football videos using their wireless. Oh I just got connected. Nando is now a record holder! He has beaten Ruud van Nistelrooy to be the BPL’s top scoring foreign player - and he did it all without penalties, unlike C.Ronaldo. I can’t wait for the next season to start! Short sleeves!
