Obama to revive the injured eagle?

hope | obama | politics | psychotic drivel

Obama won the democratic nomination sometime yesterday. Not that many are surprise considering his strong surge as the the campaign grew longer. Some say that his chances of winning the presidential race is slim at best, considering that the Hilary probably has damaged the view of the neutrals against voting Democrat by hanging on so long even when there was a shade over nothingness in her chance of securing the nomination herself, as if to say, “He is not the right candidate”. However I think, Obama is the right man. I can’t attest for much of him. True he is inexperienced. True he is young. True he is black. But the one thing we must agree with is that he is charismatic, he believes in change and he is different, whether from his upbringing (people enjoy believing that his birth makes him behave as he does) or whether because he believes in progression. Change for the sake of change is destructive. However when a ship heads on course for an iceberg, change tends to be good. Obama comes at the right time, when the world’s opinion of America is at its lowest, when the American public is stirring restlessly, at the futility of the overdrawn wars, when the American economy is doing poorly. The last being the most convincing to the common denominator that change is in order. What makes me think Obama is the right man? The man is an actor. A measured actor. He draws up the people’s spirits, he makes a person thing, “this can be done!”. Like an actor he knows his stage, he doesn’t get drawn in by himself, like an inexperienced actor, but he knows what happens around him. The more worldly view is of utmost importance in a time where the American brand is not what it used to be, a VIP entrance invite. He inspires, it might be cruel for the people to believe if there is nothing to come. But I see that things would come. Perhaps not all of his own doing, but when people believe you are capable, they tend to give. If the world perception is boosted, I believe slowly things would right itself. But more than all that, Obama represents change. He represents the idea that a man, different from the homogenous power suited white old men, can be up there. He represents a change, in that a man not consumed by the idea that America is and will be the world can lead. Obama holds the potential to be an all time great leader, because he like other great leaders before him believe in change. Change can be destructive at the wrong time, but placed in the right circumstances, it is the key to becoming a legend. Looking into the past, the previous time the world needed strong leadership would be the cold war. An era marked with notable leaders, there was Regan(an actor), Thatcher and perhaps the most overlooked of great leader’s of his time, Jean Paul II. The one thing they all held in common was they changed things which stood for so long. Regan took the Kremlin head on instead of sidelining important issues and being committed to harbouring no stance on an issue that might anger the Russians. What he did was to end the prolonging of an issue which was festering. He in a manner dealt the blow, with credit to Gorbachev the blow which would result in ending of the cold war and the coming down of the Berlin Wall. Thatcher took a stance and privatized industries, reviving the ailing economy. Change which many before her knew should have been made, but feared because change is a scary thing. Jean Paul II in a manner single handedly turned the tide against communism, by liberating his native Poland from communism, by his show of strength against communism. Eventually because he dared to change the status quo. He dared to challenge the assumed default ideology of Western Europe. All these people went down in history as greats. All these people dared to change, all these people believed there was hope in a very dark period for global politics. In uncertainty, they stayed true to their course and sailed towards immortality. It is my believe that if Obama stays on his course, he too, would be gilded as the man who revived the injured eagle, and perhaps even more, a leader for the world. One cannot really know, but one can believe in hope.
